Award winning graphic designer David Carson made a special trip to the UK to present a lecture in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
The event was organised by ourselves in collaboration with the University of Suffolk.
Following the morning lecture and Q&A session, David signed limited edition copies of his new book, which were on sale and ran an afternoon-long bespoke workshop with students from BA (Hons) Graphic and Communication Design, in what was a unique creative experience.
David’s impressive and extensive client list includes brands such as, Audi, Bose, British Airways, Budweiser, Fox TV, Giorgio Armani, Levi’s, Mercedes Benz and Microsoft, among others.
David Carson’s experimental style revolutionised the graphic design scene in the 1990s, making him one of the world’s most influential designers. A self-taught graphic designer with a degree in sociology, Newsweek said he, “changed the public face of graphic design”, and the American Centre for Design called his early magazine design, “the most important work coming from America”. Carson was named by the Smithsonian Magazine as, “one of America’s most important artists”, while Apple selected him as one of the 2 most influential graphic designers in 30 years of Apple, calling him, “a pioneer with profound impact”. In 2014, Carson was awarded the graphic design industry’s highest award, the AIGA gold medal.
